QSAR 2 is a 17 foot Crestliner boat with a welded aluminium hull and swallow draft. The boat's primary task is shallow water search and rescue. The secondary function of this boat is to assist our primary vessel the Bruce A. Sutcliffe with refloating grounded sailboats.

On a sailboat, QSAR 2 can be used to reduce the draft by taking a halyard out to one side and significantly heeling the grounded boat. With the boat heeled to one side the draft is reduced allowing the Sutcliffe to tow the sailboat towards deeper water and safety.
